Human beings have an eternal right upon nature. People need to conserved and nourish this nature not only for their own existence for the greater interest of future generation. In orchestrating this view, about 60 Years ago, A Bengali poet Shukanto Bhattacharya composed a poem with deep farsightedness only at his 17th.

So keeping the poets view in mind in 1992 a base line survey was conducted on PGR (Plant Genetic Resources) through USC Canada Bangladesh. The survey revealed that about 52 species of cereal were extinct from Kurigram belt. Of which, 50% species have very extinct. The rest 50% are only found through different forms and strata, which is an in inescapable need for human beings, Animals, Birds and for overall nature. This realization leads a group of development workers and connoisseur of nature to form Thikana Sangstha in 1993. Thikana, a Bengal ward means address or identity. This is an identity of own culture and heritage. This is an identity of livelihood harmonized with nature and indigenous knowledge and practices, which have been lost away with the passage of time.To restorative, conserve and presur4ved roots and wealth of our lost nature, Thikana Sangstha launched this project entitled Bio-village in 1994.
